OnLive brings a new way to play video games. It takes the newest and hottest console games and puts them on your PC, mac, or TV for on-demand play. This seems a little weird considering that you never actually download the games to your computer or TV(as if TVs could do that). OnLive streams the games to your computer or to a micro console, provided by OnLive, to be displayed on your TV. Sony, Nintendo, and Microsoft will be watching this product very closely since OnLive cuts out the console completely by offering games straight to the consumer regardless of what console they have. Although the reliability of the internet connection from the OnLive servers to the consumer’s house is an admitted issue, the idea is a good one and has promise to catch on in the near future. The french company, Archos, is coming out with a new handheld tablet PC called Archos 9. The Archos 9 brings a new look to the tablet PC world and well honestly it’s good to see more touch screen computers on the market. Although the Archos 9 is a tablet PC it’s a little smaller and compact than most and truly should only be used for browsing the internet and maybe watching a movie or two. With the new Intel Atom processor of only 1.2GHz of computing power, this mini-PC seems more like an over-sized phone. While it is very impressive that Windows 7 is installed, allowing for a better touch screen interface and interaction, there is a small chance that this will be a device that people will be able to by in place of a new desktop or even laptop computer. With all that said look out for new innovative products from Archos, this will not be the last time hearing about them.
