Apple has finally released info on there new operating system Snow Leopard 10.6. First day of their WWDC, Apple has out done themselves not once but, twice. First they released their new iPhone 3Gs, and then they released their new OS. Snow Leopard doesn’t bring many improvements on how a mac feels or looks, but it does improve or how it performs. In almost every category Apple has improved their OS.
Two of the os’s biggest features are it’s abilities to scale back making the os smaller, saving 6gb of space and process quicker, faster, and more efficiently by using dual core processing to it’s fullest. Another feature I have been waiting for was mac support for Microsoft Exchange, well it’s finally here. It’s getting harder and harder to say that i don’t want a mac because it’s not compatible with windows. Mac users can trade documents and file with their windows using counterparts. Those were the biggest feature, the biggest surprise is the price. Usually an upgrade to a newer mac os is $129 to upgrade from leopard to snow leopard is only $29. How they do that i’m not sure. Apple has never been shall we say a better buy than before. This price will sure be the talk of mac circles around the world. The Os should be expect to come out in September this year. Apple just released info on their new iPhone. Yes, it has been confirmed there will be a new iPhone. It will be called the iPhone 3Gs. The old iPhone will drop to a price of $99 and the new iPhone will be offered for $199 for a 16gb version and $299 for a 32gb version. I know what all of you are thinking what is so great about the new iPhone. not much has changed as far as looks go, but there is a 3 megapixel camera and it is on the front no word on a front view camera. Their are a few other new features added to the iPhone 3Gs, like a built-in digital compass, voice control, longer battery life, and tethering. The iPhone will be released this month June 09. For the U.S.A. it will hit stores on the 19th.
E3 has brought out the best in some in all of the major gaming companies and around every corner something new and exciting but, the new PS3 controller may bet all of that. Early in the E3 conference Microsoft’s Project Natal brought us a new way of gaming, playing games with no controller needed. Sony had to come back with something preferably better and that’s what they tried to do with their new motion sensing controller.
The controller has an interesting look sort of a wand with a glowing ball on the end. The PlayStation eye can track the the glowing ball on the end of the wand so whenever the controller is moved, the movement is mimicked in the game. Sony demo’s the controller in the video below.
Project Natal is Microsoft’s new no controller needed game play for the Xbox console. Looking at the product demos of the camera based new interface shows a lot of potential for new games and interactions.
The camera registers the users movements so that when playing a racing game all that needs to be done is act like driving a car and the rest is simulated in the game. Even trying on clothes can be less of a hassle letting project natal do it for you. You’ll have to watch the video to find out what I mean.
I can see this becoming another must have item, since it goes past the level of interactivity with the wii. Another aspect is this game is for those who want to get into shape. No matter how you size it up video gamers of the future with these kinds of games will be just as fit, if not more fit than the kids on the local basketball team.
Sony has finally come out with a new handheld device called the PSP Go. Offering a lighter, sleeker, and more portable version of PSP 3000. The PSP Go is more of a digital version of the PSP 3000. There will be less tangible content such as hard disks and more downloadable content such as games, movies, and music. Another difference will be the type of games offered for the PSP Go. Sony hopes that game developers will see how portable the PSP Go is and “create a game that is easier to play on the go that you’d play for ten or fifteen minutes and put down.”
